Groenkloof at a glance
GROENKLOOF is one of the first completely closed off areas in Pretoria with
the Groenkloof Security Initiative, working alongside private security companies
as well as the SAPS.
The immaculate Jan Cilliers Park in the heart of the suburb hosts an array of
visitors from picnickers to outdoor exercise enthusiasts:
Get ready for weekend picnics around beautiful ponds surrounded by native
South African flora. Weekend exercise groups meet in the park for outdoor yoga,
boot camp as well as walking and running clubs - and if park-cercise is not for you,
Virgin Active Groenkloof, CBC Old Boys Club and North Gauteng Tennis Club will
surely tick any fitness box.
While Groenkloof Plaza is well known for its local Spar - as sung of by Afrikaans
singer Jak de Priester in his song "Sally Williams Nougat" - but it is not the only
attraction to the centre which further hosts an array of restaurants, a pharmacy,
a pet shop, clothing stores, ATM's and an Engen garage which make this a perfect
and convenient meeting spot. Right next door at Groenkloof Forum, a local butcher,
greengrocer, Italian deli, fishmonger, hardware store, liquor shop and the local
'tuisnywerheid', will satisfy any and all shopping needs.
