6 Beautiful towns for holiday homes in Western Cape

Category Lifestyle

Holiday homes in Western Cape are excellent investments to make and these will pay off over the long term.

Not only are you investing in additional property, but you always have accommodation when you want to break away from the monotony of city life.

Holiday homes can also be an excellent source of income during off-peak seasons if you decide to rent them out. There are several beautiful towns along the coast of the Western Cape that are perfect for owning holiday homes.

These breathtaking coastlines help to make any holiday home a worthwhile investment.

Here are 6 towns you should consider when making your next investment.

1) Hermanus

Hermanus has always been a whale-watching paradise which is why it is one of the top spots for holiday homes in the country.

This quiet town is home to many retirees and holiday homes here offer gorgeous views of the ocean.

Holiday homes in Hermanus usually go for about R1.2 million to R2 million, depending on what you are looking for.

It is a town with all the necessary amenities nearby but without the rush of everyday city life.

2) Mossel Bay

Mossel Bay is another quiet town nestled in the southern parts of the Western Cape Province.

It was named Town of the Year by Kwêla and this has placed the town on the proverbial map.

Mossel Bay boasts 5 gorgeous blue flag beaches and it has undergone some exciting new developments.

Having said this, it remains one of the popular destinations for holiday homes in this province.

According to investors, some of the top spots to invest in Mossel Bay are Dana Bay, Diaz Beach, Island View, and Reebok. Homes in these areas range from R1.7-R1.9 million.

3) Langebaan

Langebaan is just a stone's throw away from Cape Town, making it a convenient place for a weekend away.

It is probably known for the suburb of Mykonos which brings a flair of Greece to this small seaside town.

Mykonos is especially popular amongst holidaymakers due to the Club Mykonos Resort.

Surrounding this resort is an array of white-washed homes just like one would find on the Mediterranean islands.

Even though it has become popular amongst tourists, it still offers a tranquil seaside environment.

Holiday homes in Mykonos are slightly more expensive and range from R2.5-R3.8 million on average.

4) Noordhoek

Noordhoek and its surrounding areas have become more and more popular over the years, especially for those interested in investing in holiday homes in Western Cape.

This small town is cosily nestled against the shore of the Cape Peninsula and is one of the two areas you can reach via the Chapman's Peak Drive route.

Noordhoek properties might be a bit steep for some with prices ranging from R5-10 million.

Its surrounding areas like Kommetjie and Fish Hoek are significantly cheaper and offer the same type of serene atmosphere.

5) Camps Bay

If you want to escape the city but you still want a bit of an eclectic vibe, then Camps Bay is the perfect spot for your holiday home.

This suburb is not far from the Cape Town CBD, yet it is far enough for you to soak up its relaxing environment.

Camps Bay has a range of restaurants available and many cyclists, joggers, and runners make use of its promenade.

Camps Bay homes have views of both the mountain and the ocean, depending on where it is situated.

6) Stillbaai

Stillbaai is perfect for investors looking for a more affordable holiday home or vacant land to build.

Houses and apartments are priced from about R1.9-R2.1 million and vacant plots go for between R700 000-R1.6 million on average.

Depending on where you buy, Stillbaai can give you glorious views of the ocean and absolute serenity.

It is a very popular spot for water sports enthusiasts who enjoy surfing and fishing. Its neighbouring area, Witsand, is also perfect for whale-watching.

Final thoughts

Holiday homes in Western Cape are as popular as ever with many people either wanting to invest in the province or retire there. In these towns, you will find solace and tranquillity without the hassle of everyday life.
